What is the rocket ?
We practice a variation of the traditional Ashtanga series as taught by Larry Schultz, founder of It’s Yoga San Francisco and creator of The Rocket Series, “the next step to vinyasa”.
All of our classes begin with Suryanamaskar A&B (Sun Salutations) and end with a series of finishing postures.
Standing and seated postures vary depending on the class of the day (i.e Rocket I, Rocket II). Pilates core work drills are part of some routines.
Vinyasa means “to link”. It’s a moving breathing meditation that involves techniques of breath control (pranayama), bandha control (a way to utilize one’s energy centers and locks in the body) and drishti (gaze control) to create physical and spiritual transformation.
A weekly routine system:
Primary Series on Sunday and Thursday
Rocket I on Monday and Saturday
Rocket II on Tuesday and Wednesday
Rocket III or the Happy Hour on Friday
*Please note that Rocket I, II or III are NOT levels of difficulty. It stands for order of sequence*
